About me

This page is all about me. Along with my inspiration for cooking. I am a boy Momdog mom and Wife to my amazing Hubby of 10 years. I love to read, spend time with family, go to the beach, listen to music and of course work with food!

Why do I love to work with food?

My love for cooking started at a young age. I can remember Sunday breakfast being my favorite and the family favorite was Dad’s French toast. As a little girl, Dad lifted me up on the counter and showed me how to crack the eggs. He would let me try and whip them, at that age I couldn’t get them whipped enough. As a result he would take over and I can remember how mesmerized I was by how fast he could whip those eggs.

My inspiration behind food?

Firstly, my grandmother is my main inspiration for cooking and baking. When I was little, I can remember watching her skip over the recipe and just put in a little of this, a pinch of that, until it was just right. My mother didn’t get the opportunity to learn to cook from her mother or father, because both passed when she was in her teens. So, when Mom met my Dad, Grandma took her under her wing and taught her everything she knows about cooking. Therefore, Mom would say “if it wasn’t for your Grandma you guys would be eating grilled cheese and tomato soup every night!”

Finally, the last inspiration I will bring into my cooking is from my Hubby’s side of the family. They’re old fashion Christians (German Baptist) and, let me tell you, they know how to cook.

Lets get personal…

I am a real person with real life issues and have struggled with infertility for 5 years+, dealt with multiple miscarriage, have endometriosis and had over 10 surgeries. We have also went through adoption and watched multiple family members fight cancer. Therefore, at the end of the day we can’t control anything! My motto is to take it one day at a time.

With that all being said, I try to not be a control freak, but the one thing I can control is FOOD.

Why read my food blog?

To give you a little insight into what I have to offer, there is a list below. Now, if you haven’t figured it out, I am not a chef. You can say I’m self-taught with some extra help from other people. So, do not take everything I say to heart. I may not do everything perfect, but nobody is, right?

Here are some categories of what I plan to share with you:

  • Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner recipes of course
  • I have a crock-pot, instant pot and other fun kitchen gadgets I like to whip out from time to time.
  • Desserts of course!!! YUM
  • Garden recipes (when in season)
  • Food for kids
  • Holidays
  • And much more!

Lastly, I love a good quote and I will end each blog with one!

“I don’t want to look back and think… I could have eaten that”
